28mm Vietnam Decal suggestions
« on: 08 September 2019, 07:22:46 PM »
With the current and future releases of 28mm armour for the Vietnam War, just wondering what everyone will be using for decals? The market seems to cater for 1/72 and 1/35 Vietnam vehicles, but nothing out there for 1/50 / 1/56 scale! Do you use the smaller or larger decals already available?

I am hoping someone will bring out something suitable.

The amount of white makes DIY printing impossible  :'(

What decals do you actually require? White US stars are readily available in 1/56 and their use became increasingly infrequent anyway. White serial numbers, the old USA XYZW type are also available in 1/56. Yellow USMC markings are a bit less common but I suspect, being yellow they are easier to home print and IIRC a couple of the Rubicon kits contain them.

If Empress or someone else do dedicated decals, that’s a bonus but I suspect you can find what you need already. Painting names, slogans and artwork is down to you though.

Yeah, just did a quick look around; Warlord have got numbers, stars et cetera in 1/56th in their WW2 range which will be fine.

Yellow is an absolute bugger to home print though unless you've got a serious printer.

Slogans, names and artwork decals would be very useful though especially for those of us with crappy handwriting  ;)

Thanks for the advice everyone.... I was thinking more of vehicle Graffiti for the side of M113s and on the covers of the M48 searchlights. Mec Models and Star decals do really good stuff for the two scales already mentioned, but don't want to expand it to other scales, which is a shame.
