Brummies Random Fantasy Project: Clan Skaw Warrior
« on: May 02, 2020, 12:15:00 PM »
Found some fantasy adventurers I bought yonks ago whilst doing some more compulsory Lockdown tidying. I remember trying to drop 28mm fantasy a while ago but I'm glad I didn't succeed in flogging them as I suddenly felt in the mood to paint some!

So here is Lilith of Matera! Monster Hunter extraodinaire she is the wayward daughter of a powerful trade prince from the Kingdom of Lagurnia; a reasonably powerful (and quite wealthy) state to the south. Lilith has travelled through the Kingdoms of men to reach what is now known as the Dead Frontier; a vast territory once occupied by a plethora of Human Kingdoms before being overrun nearly a century ago by an Undead Plague. Currently she is wasting her expertise in killing supernatural critters by acting as a bouncer for a mouldy tavern owned by grotty hobbit besides the great river of Ulm. Ulm marks the boundary between the more civilized bandit ridden half of the Dead Frontier and the bit practically buzzing with bloodthirsty skeletons.

Right at this moment Lilith is planting her knee into the groin of yet another smashed blaggard for trying to manhandle a serving girl, praying to whatever deity will listen for someone to save her from this purgatory and hire her for some real work...

Figure is a Westfalia Miniatures Adventurer!

Ser Zigmunt of Dagda

Cheers Has.Been!

Another hero to join the team; Ser Zigmunt of Dagda. Set Zigmunt hails from a collection of petty Kingdoms known as the Coalition of Nitra. From the more isolated Kingdom of Treledan on the eastern fringes of the Coalition, even at a young age Zigmunt has had plenty of practice fighting things most other knights would have nightmares about. Northmen and Goblins are considered a mere 'warm-up' to this man. Like many of his countrymen Zigmunt prefers older armour over the increasingly fashionable plate armour. He also, when possible, likes to carry a Norse shield purely because the Northmen kept the shield boss in use, something the Knight insists is too practical not to use. Zigmunts presence in Deadslands is not for gold or glory but to recover the honour of his house.

Nigh a century ago as the Undead overran many Kingdoms, the Nitran Coalition set off on a crusade to counter the onslaught. The crusade succeeded in halting the Undead, but in one battle Zigmunts great grandfather perished and with him the Banner of Dagda was lost. Zigmunts father similarly attempted to reclaim the banner many years later at the head of a small army, but he and his men vanished. Now it is Zigmunts turn, he has no army and little wealth, but he will succeed for if he does not another Lord will surely rule over Dagda...

(Figure is Foundry old Citadel?? Not 100% sure)

Kitbash, might turn this idea into a small force but undecided. Been playing Witcher 3 lately and liked the Norse-Gaelic Skellige to try a knock off version.

Clan Skaw are one of the larger clans from the more 'civilized' side of the Misty Isles. Their capital of Urhan is quite large and boasts numerous trade links with other Kingdoms and Empires across the known world. Skawlings can often be found fighting as Mercenaries. Unlike other clans, Skawlings are more organised in how they fight, and are known to carry pavise like shields into battle.

Nice 'Glowing Runes' effect on the shield.
