UVS: African Adventures 14 May 2020
« on: 14 May 2020, 06:54:19 PM »
Crooked Dice released their Governor General's Army a while back, but watching Queen Sono on Netflix moved them to the top of the paint queue.

The first pack comprises a shouty NCO, two riflemen and a light machine gun.

They have a V100 APC for patrolling.

Though they will tend to patrol on foot.

I have the other pack awaiting assembly.

Crooked Dice are a fantastic company I recently bought some bits from them and the service was great. See: http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/ They have a Not Salute Sale on at the moment.

Really like what you have done with these and the little armoured car is very cute and perfect for these chaps to as you said patrol. Would love to see more... What will you be playing with these?

Very nice! I regret not buying these when they were owned by LAF’s own Akula and sold at a reasonable price.

Crooked Dice don't miss you, that's for sure! I went to grab their new FishFolk minis but balked at 4 quid a figure!

Lovely work man! I'm always fond of any minis with the beloved SLR ;)

Thanks for the nice comments.

Golgotha: I have a few painted Crooked Dice figures
http://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/search/label/Crooked%20Dice
I also have rather a lot of unpainted ones ^__^.

Their game potential is still being explored, but I am looking through my unpainted Crooked Dice and Hasslefree figures for a suitable Queen Sono figures plus assembling Militia Miniatures and Eureka Africans.

Rules wise, 7TV, Spectre and the core from The Zone (plus TWD:AOW).

I knew that the figures had a previous existence.

Not wanting to get into a discussion on price, but the packs of figures are cheaper (£3 each for four Governor General's Army and £3.75 each for four fish folk). The prices are comparable to Hasslefree etc.

Even at three quid a throw, thats twice the price of Empress or Eureka etc, etc, etc. Bit rich for my blood. For $6.00 a figure I would want them served on a silver platter with canapes and a drink thrown in.

Should have bought them earlier. Oh well and as Splod says, they won’t miss my custom.

I love these figures and use mine for the Congo c.1960s.  My one little complaint is that I would have preferred if they gave the MG guy an FN MAG that seems a better match to the FN FAL armed troops than the SAW.

The light machine gunner is armed with the FN Minimi, possibly a Para model.

Any resemblance to the L108, C9 or M249 is licencing.
^___^

Seriously, it would be nice if there was a matching crew for the tripod mounted GP machine gun.

Probably unwise to use as a carry on...

UN troops defending the Earth.

The figures are Crooked Dice Minion HMG team with Fighting Men heads

Whatever the version, that Minimi was not (and is still not) a very common weapon around post-colonial Africa and unlikely to be seen next to troops sporting the c.1960s-70s FALs.  The FN MAG would have been perfect.  Its not a big deal though.
