Blood & Plunder Bark (Brigantine) Build.
« on: 18 August 2020, 11:04:01 PM »

It has been a while since I posted. This is the Blood & Plunder Bark, I rigged it up as a Brigantine because I generally see a Bark as three masted ship. I added a lot of aftermarket parts and hand crafted several of the fittings. The sail coloring was an experiment with wash. I wanted to show a little color but give the impression of worn sun bleaching. I also doubled the gun complement because most of our games are fast and violent.

This figure is a gem from Neca/Wizkids. I had to put it in a picture.

Both a Brig and a Brigantine (there is slight difference in the rig) will ALWAYS have the taller mainmast at the BACK, the shorter one in the front foremast position.
But great model otherwise.

Here is a couple of pics of a tiny Brig that compares with your model. The gaff rigged sail on the mainmast can just be seen at the back.

Looked in my The Ship book and your design as is (with it's taller foremast) more closely resembles a Swedish Galeas or Dutch Kof. Not exactly, but close enough. These were small coastal vessels but perfectly capable of open sea voyages, and popular types right up to the age of steam. Hope this helps.
