If you want to go old school, I see that Rapid Fire seem to have been re-released.
I don't know about a new release I have the second edition and have had them for a few years?

Rapid Fire Reloaded is not a re-release rather a stripped down version so definitely fulfils the simple requirement. Although technically not a skirmish set as nominally has a 1:15 figure scale a battalion works out the same size as a platoon at 1:1. Received my copy yesterday so only skimmed through it but looks like it will be fun. Certainly worth a punt as only costs a fiver.

Love me some CoC.. but, it's not what I would call "simple".
Bolt Action is.. "WW2" in name only... but somewhat "simple".
1hour skirmish Wargame by John Lambshead is great.
Fistful of Lead is my groups current 'go to' for damn near everything.. so I'm sure we will use it for WW2 soon.

Well, the mechanics are rather simple. It’s easy to learn but hard to master. The thing that’s probably taking most getting used to is the Patrol Phase and how to use the CoC Points.

That said it’s certainly not as simple as BA for example.
