6mm Soviets and Mujahadeen
« on: October 08, 2020, 02:07:16 AM »
Over the past year I embarked on a small side project for the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The figures are all Heroics & Ros and are based for the ruleset  "Hind & Seek" which is available online and has some very interesting concepts to give a fun asymmetrical game. Anyway, here are some snaps of my 6mm project.

Those forces look quite good! I have some of the same Soviet figures for one of this winter’s gaming projects and it is encouraging to see what you’ve done with them.

Just curious, where did you get the rotor disks?

I am very interested in H&S. Played about a half dozen games. Like you I have lots of H&R, for infantry, plus plenty of cold war Soviet equipment left over from when it was Ultra Modern. I was planning on thinning it massively then became very interested in the Soviet Afghan war. Of course picked up more Soviets from H&R, mostly "in action" poses and VDV. I use their Taliban as Mujahideen as they look more that part than Taliban in my opinion.

Nice work on the minis and have to read your blog when not tired from work. I also have many ideas on H&S if you want to discuss it further PM me.

Just curious, where did you get the rotor disks?

I got them from a Houston, Texas based online store called ZLazr. I measured the approximate diameter of the rotors and ordered a similar size clear disc. They come with protective paper and before I removed it, I used a Savannah brand center finder (clear yellow plastic tool) to figure out the center and drilled a hole. I attached them to the helos with a sewing needle clipped to length.

It was much easier to do and I was pleased with the results.
