Two Sd.Kfz 251s
« on: 27 June 2021, 04:40:15 PM »

Then, two 1/72 scale Sd.Kfz 251/1s...

The one on the left is a Dragon kit, originally built by Adam in Ireland. He sold it to me some years ago. His paint job was a rather dark Panzer grey so I repainted it to fit my other German equipment.

The model on the right is of course the venerable ESCI kit...

....about fifty years old it shows multiple problems with the front mudguards, and the general shape of the hull.

Still, it's good enough as a wargaming model. I have a couple more of them in the stash I think...

I've managed to snap off one of the width indicators on the mudguard of the Dragon model.

It wouldn’t be a Wargames model if you hadn’t! Lol

They look very good.  On the table, you’d have to point out the differences.

They look the part to me.

For some reason, I especially like the crosscut saw on the one...self-made pioneers, that Gruppe is... ;)

They're fine as is. Very nice models.
PS Many years ago, I fitted the Revell Mk IV J hull top to the Dragon Stug IV lower hull with 3 return rollers and vertical exhaust mufflers and saw a gap between the lower front plate and the vertical plate next to it. I can put the weld bead in there I thought. I then placed it into a box and never went back. I now follow Will's 3 foot rule and am the happier for it.
