Turkish MGs Middle East

I’m currently painting some Eureka 15mm Turks for TFL’s If The Lord Spares Us and wondering how to paint the Maxim MGs. Bare metal for everything or perhaps a sand colour for the tripod and maybe also the barrel? I haven’t found a decent photo and am wondering if someone might have seen an example in a museum. Yes I could simply go with my inclination (sand as above) but know I would be irritated if I found evidence they were not painted at a later date!

Can anyone help please?
