They’ve got power armour on - they could just be stacked in like logs!

The original plastic epic marines where a fair bit smaller than the new ones, but I’m not even sure they would have fitted in that well. Epic vehicle scales seem to be more on the ‘looks acceptable’ than scale models. Certainly some of the Squat war engines seem tiny.
