Best Masking Product for Painting
« on: 10 November 2021, 07:06:47 PM »
I am working on redoing a diecast Chinook in to RAF Op Herrick colors. I have the base coat done using a Citadel color, but am wondering what would be the best product to use to mask off the areas where the access strips go? Since one goes nearly the entire length of the fuselage no way I can do it freehand. If I could find a black decal I would be happy to go that route, but short of cutting down some D-Day striped I am not aware of just a plain black decal.

Any thoughts or suggestions is appreciated.

Print your own decal? That would be my go to option.

If you really feel the need to paint, Tamiya Masking tape (low tack do it doesn't,  in theory, remove the colour underneath) - there are other versions but, imo, they're not as good.

Thank you Gentlemen!!! I will look into both options. I also just realized in trying to find my post that I put it in the wrong section! I am blaming it on old age for sure!!!

Thanks again,

Terry
