Thought of passing this item on to you all, with the
hope that other ideas get passed on.
Went to a local DIY store (Homebase)
Didn't find what I wanted, typical, but did find this.
Shelf Liner Clear.
£3.50 for 1200mm x 450mm.
Don't worry it won't go into lining a drawer or shelf.
It will make excellent roofing in 28mm 'scale'.
Should paint up nicely as pantiles, but I think it would
also make modern clear plastic roofing. You could even
paint most of it as asbestos leaving rectangles as Sky-lights.

Some of those shelf liner materials make great separators and dividers for buildings in storage so they don't scrape against each other.  The ones I've used are an 'open' weave sort of foam material.  Works great.
