Disaster on the Zambesi!
« on: 05 October 2009, 04:30:44 AM »
October 5th 1883
Cape Colony
South Africa

Lord Harrington
Foreign Office
Whitehall, London

Dear Sir,

I am writing to inform you of a most terrible occurence on the Zambesi river earlier this month.

With the return of the HMLS Dauntless we have received news of the destruction of our expedition headed by Professor Pratt and Surgeon Major Robertson. At this stage we hold little hope of any members of the expedition being found alive.

The link above is an account of a recent Gaslight game played at our club. It was my first tryout of my just finished Wargames Factory Zulus and they performed exceptionally well.

Cheers
Fuzzy
Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly
down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red
Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture,
torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.

Lovely looking game. :-* :-* :-*
Are the tracks detachable on the Dauntless?
The Balloons look great. :o :-*
Any chance of some close ups and how about explaining how you made them?
WIP photos?
Please :D

Great game, Fuzzy!

How do the Zulus look in close-up and do they allow plenty of variation in poses? I've never seen any outside of photos, so I'd like any critiques before I buy any.

Did you make those movement trays yourself, or are they commercial items?

Cheers,
Ian

Thanks for the great comments. :)

In answer to some of the questions. The Zulus paint up very nicely though I do have some misgivings on their design. I have posted a review of the zulus on my Blog if you want to see more.

The HMLS Dauntless wheels can be removed so it can function as a normal boat. I also plan to make a cargo hatch and winch/mast that can be swapped with the large gun turret at the front so it can be used for more traditional colonial scenarios. I have WIP shots of the Dauntless on my blog.

The balloons were scratchbuilt by my fellow NWA'er Tom Brake. He made them using bits from Eureka, Colonial gunboat crew, Nordenfelt and basket. The balloons were polystryrene balls.

Cheers

Fuzzy.
