When the Rif Came to Skelp
« on: 10 October 2009, 11:27:50 PM »
The Skelp Show proved to be a great day for both Rif Raf Miniatures Ltd and Falkirk and District Wargames Club.  The club had, once again, put on another fantastic display game with our Rif and Spanish figures - under the wonderful guidance of Dave 'the builder' Burns.  The game itself won a 'Commondation' award so all thanks go to Dave and the rest of the team who have worked so very closley to help put together a really fun and entertaining game.  The rules used were Triumph and Tragedy...which have also proved to be very popular, fun, and very playable.  (And of course, my thanks also goes to Bjorn for 'introducing me' to his rules)  :)

On another high note, yours trully won first prize in the 'Terrain Section' of the painting competition as well  :D  My piece was a 28mm Russian farmhouse/cottage made by Chiltern Miniatures (a very nice piece indeed).  You can click onto the link below to have a look....

.....and then click on newest uploads once you're on the site....

I think I've gone a bit a bit mad with the pics of this though  lol

Cheers,

Marco (Rif Raf Miniatures Ltd)

Lovely house Marco
Cracking paint job.  :-* :-* :-*
Well done on the win.
What was the rest of the show like? I have not been to Skelp since it moved. What’s the new location like?

Hi gamer Mac, thanks for the comments there :)

For me, the show was pretty good as there were, what I thought, a lot of great display and public participation games.  The location's in a pretty good spot and there's plenty of parking facilities.  It's also got a great atmosphere and the 'Angus' crew were fantastic and friendly.  Easy place to find too, which is helpful, as I have a habit of taking wrong turns and ending up in the strangest of places.

I will be at Targe in November as well - that's a new location too.

Well deserved, especially since it is not easy to get attention for a, if I may say so, rather mundane subject. Very subtle paint job, the hole in the foundation is a nice detail.

You´re still scheduled for Fiasco on 1st of November, aren´t you? I´d like to see the Spanish minis in the flesh and would probably like to purchase some...

Glad that you liked the rules! The pics look fascinating, and congratulations on your showing in the competition!
