I recently bought The Fields of Normandy: A Solitaire Wargame by Mike Lambo and thought I'd play through the campaign. Instead of using pen and paper though, I thought I'd use some old Hexon II terrain I own and some of my Flames of War figures.

The game plays really well, imho, and can easily be a collaborative experience with players splitting up the Allied forces against the AI Axis forces pitted against them.

For my first BatRep, I went through the book's opening mission - Secure The Woods. This is a simple scenario which gets you used to the order phase and helps establish the importance of cover, as well as flank attacks.

The full BatRep can be found here for those interested: https://www.fantoricalwargaming.com/post/the-fields-of-normandy-15mm-battle-report-secure-the-woods

Great write up of a small scenario

I got the Mike Lambo WWI Vimey Ridge book for Christmas - and am too thinking about playing the battles with figures. What is interesting is that there are clearly quite a lot of differences between the two games (which seems a good thing) the WWI game being on a square grid, and there is no need to roll for what a unit can do, but there is a max number of orders that can be given to the Canadians  each turn.

Great stuff, thank you for posting. I’ve never heard of the source book but will now go straight off to check it out.

Thanks Fred. I must confess I didn't spot Mike's WW1 book on Amazon, so will add that to my wants list - especially as you draw so many differences with the rules between the two conflicts. It sounds very intriguing indeed. I have now picked up his Medieval one, as I plan to use it to motivate me to paint up a 10mm Saxon army for Hail Caesar (or a similar rule-set), and will use each scenario as a monthly goal to achieve my ultimate target. That's rules appear somewhat different (understandably) as well, and I plan to cover the BatReps here for those interested.

Many thanks BALM. Very much appreciated. Mike Lambo's books do appear to be something of a rabbit hole, LOL!!! So don't blame me if you get hooked as I have.  ;)
