WWI airfields
« on: 29 November 2009, 11:46:21 AM »
Anyone know where I can get 1/48 scale airfield accessories (tents, trucks and all the other bits and pieces)?
"...and as always, we are dealing with strange forces far beyond our comprehension...."

All limitations are self imposed.  Work hard and dream big.

There was a Crossley Truck in RAF livery in the Models of Yesteryear range. Nice piece, that one.

I´d say WW1 is difficult to find, somehow; there are quite a number of plastic figure accessories for WW2 and Modern, though, some of which might be adapted.

Fiddler's Green offer a tent hangar in 1/60th scale, although that could possibly built as easily from scratch, I guess (especially if you need one large enough for a DH10. ;)); I got some of their aircraft plans and their Lanchester, and they are nice and fit together well.

I´ll look through my links to see if I can find some more stuff.

Hannants, the well known suppliers used to carry some kits by a czech company CMK (if I recall the name correctly).
They used to have resin bits and pieces plus photoetched materials.
They were intended to titilate early WW2 airfields with hangars, meteo instruments, office accessories, drums, figures  etc. Both in 1/72 & 1/48 scales.

So, I think, that being around 1940, at least some of them might be useful for WW1
I am not sure anymore which of them are still available (and whether still by Hannants)
but here is the link to CMK:

It's a shame that the magazine "Model Mart" isn't around anymore - used to be like a model makers version of Exchange & Mart - you used to be able to place free adds for things that you wanted.

You might be able to pick up some bits from a toy or model railway fair :
