British M29 Class Monitor
« on: 13 June 2023, 06:49:57 AM »
A little something (1:700 scale) that I created to provide naval gunfire support for the recreation of the British landings at Suvla Bay on August 1915. This will be part of a demo game covering the assault on Sari Bair as well for the Joy of Six show in Sheffield. Three M29 Class monitors were present on the day. All three are now printed in resin:

Good work, very recognizable as a 6" monitor. Always had a fondness for all the monitor classes, such interesting service lifes for them.

Thank you, voltan. I agree. On my To-Do list is the pair of monitors and the pontoon combo that were to be used for Operation Hush in 1917.

I believe there is one of these moored in the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth - went over it with #1 son in March '21 when they re-opened.  Very cramped inside, despite looking big from the exterior - a sort of "reverse Tardis"!
No plan survives first contact with the dice.

M33 (or Minerva) who I think is one of the monitors that ended up fighting in Russia after the war.
