Trying out a couple more basing ideas on these 28mm USMC by Gringo40s. Decent basing for the battle of Hue city is a pig to get right compared to my usual jungle stuff lol

They both work!

I do like a nice urban base.

Are you trying to chose a preferred style, or happy to mix them up?

They both look good.
The red bases might suit Hue the most, but someone with access to colour photographs might have a better idea.

Thanks guys, yes the red is probably more typical for Hue, but I'm mixing it up with Full Metal Jacket style urban concrete as well.

Like those bases.  Very thematic.

Very nice basing. The reddish brick works matches the Citadel walls nicely.

I considered a similar approach myself but decided against it as i wanted the Marines to be non-battle specific. As it happens there were and still are quite a lot of open green spaces within the Citadel of Hue  not to mention the southern approaches to the city.

Thanks everyone. Yes, the basing does limit the scenarios a bit, I've got my ANZACs for jungle stuff though :)

Not only are the bases superb but the figures are a joy to behold, especially the helmet covers, how do you paint them?

Thank you all for the kind comments.

For the helmets, base colour is Vallejo German camouflage Beige, then blobs of Tan Earth, Green Grey, Flat Brown, Green Brown and Yellow Green. Followed by a coat of True Earth Light and Fading, with a thin brown wash finishing it off.
