Warfare in the Age of Reason question
« on: 19 December 2023, 05:54:21 AM »
Gents, found 'Beyond the Saale' campaign which uses Warfare in the Age of Reason SPs to give force strengths. I don't own Warfare in the Age of Reason so can someone tell me what and SP relates to re an OOB please?

A strength point in WAoR equals an infantry battalion or a cavalry regiment, so five strength points might be (for example) 3 infantry battalions and 2 cavalry regiments or any other iteration up to the limit of 5 units. IIRC the ratio is set in the army lists for each nation.

WAoR is a very good gaming system and the campaign supplement is an excellent way of managing campaigns, as a bonus it also has very good and manageable siege warfare set of rules. Worth tracking down if 18th C warfare is your bag.

Although not exactly the same as the army lists in the WitAoR rulebook (which I don't have any more, sorry), I have adapted their army lists for the 'Bohemian Blitzkrieg' campaign here, which should give you an idea of how they work:

Do you gents happen to know the OOB of Prince Moritz von Anhalt-Dessau’s Corps as they entered Bohemia?

Kronoskaf lists Frederick’s OOB, Brunswick-Beven’s and von Schwerin’s but I can’t track down the OOB for Moritz’s column, just that it had 17 bns, 30 sqns and 8 pieces of heavy artillery.

Apologies, found it
