Don't write them off completely. I picked up a couple of the plastic boxed sets, mainly for figure conversion and spare bits. The hard plastic figures seem fine, it's the resin support blister that annoyed me. Even that is workable, I'm mostly disappointed that something I thought would be a standard metal set is made of (in my eyes) an inferior material.

My bigger beef with Rubicon is their research, some of their boxes and the previews of forthcoming ones suggest that the research, at least on non-vehicular subjects is rather slap-dash.

Do I sound like a grumpy old man? S'pose I must be. :)

They should contract me then. I currently work on contract specifically doing historical research for one or two companies in the industry in addition to running my store.

Once upon a time they ran a forum and got all kinds of useful feedback on projects in the works*. Now they have a Fuckface page and not so much.....

*Technically speaking the forum is still there but tumbleweeds and silence prevail.

What he said.

Once the forum became generally dormant, "One thing and Another" meant no shows, no sight of developments and loss of my interest

Strictly speaking they both had fora, Warlord's was compromised and never really recovered when it came back on-line.

This WHOLE forum is grumpy old men lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

Well, it's nice to be among like-minded individuals. :D

I was on the Warlord forum when it re-launched, but it was kinda dire. Extremely bare-bones, but at least they had it. Still, it never developed any traction. I suppose that social media is more immediate (and we all had our little pavlovian brains trained to react to how FB works rather than a forum. It's really weird.).

Well the story has a happy ending, following Carlos Marighela's advice I picked up some Eureka Japanese and was extremely happy with them.

Nice. I found that with platoon-level stuff it's really worth going with metals, even though they may be a bit pricier.

I'm starting to come to that conclusion too. In fact will probably order a couple more squads from Eureka this week.
