So many modern skimish rulesets
« on: 31 January 2025, 01:54:54 PM »
We are really spoiled with choices these days for small skirmish games(4-15 minis). I have read through the following but only playtested 1, 2 and 5. So far 1. Is my favorite due to the fast and easy gameplay. It is really a challenge to get into all of them so I wonder what is the general opinion?

1. One-Hour Skirmish Wargames (PvP)
2. Battlespace (solo/co-op)
3. Haywire (solo/co-op)
4. Frontline Heroes (solo/co-op/PvP)
5. Rogue Warriors (PvP, some solo/co-op)

There’s also Spectre - I’ve only played v1 and v2 (and v1 only twice), I enjoyed the v2 rules and they’ve been added to my collection. Haven’t tried v3 but was put off by talk of the ruleset being messily/badly presented (and there was actual no reason to make v3 apart from losing the license to v2  lol ). Haywire was, iirc, made by someone that used to play a lot of spectre and has made some truly beautiful terrain for their YouTube battle reports, I’d also be interested in anyone else’s experience of this.
