Dysthopian Wars - Solo?
« on: 25 June 2024, 09:07:42 PM »
I have just played my first game of Dysthopian Wars. The game is not designed for solo play, but I really enjoyed it. The battle report is here,

I have decided to build some simple solo mechanics without loosing the flow of the game. Ideas include,
1. Varied force size based on a squadron card system
2. Improve the narrative aspects by introducing heroic captains
3. develop some pre-battle movements
4. Introduce some repair rules between battles.
Early days, some appreciate any ideas, especially on how to adapt the Victory and Valor cards.

Not sure I can add much, given I have not played that much DW, and found your first game background description so delightful, as make any suggestion daunting.

M. Holmes feeding info to Cunningham... Awesome!

I did wonder if at some point you might want to consider asymmetrical forces. If you have ever seen the boardgame Seastrike, an inspiration for Full Thrust's ship icons, you may be aware of the scenarios built themselves from random objective cards, each with points appropriate to how limited the objectives.

They even inspired one fellow to create versions FOR FT.

Maybe down the road a bit...
