Glenning's Napoleonic adventures (WIP pics added 14/6)
« on: June 12, 2025, 02:37:33 PM »
Alright - in this thread I will showcase my ongoing Napoleonic project - main focus will be French, British and Spanish troops during the Peninsular war but i MAY get sidetracked by the occasional Russians, Norwegians and Swedes (being a Swede myself).

Anyway, let's start with the first "unit" I've finished - a small group of French Grenadiers. We're going to play small skirmish battles - around 30-40 figures per side.

I'm working on a project to wage war in Spain, which has just begun to take shape. I have some French troops and some guerrillas. But I also have a project to wage war in Finland; I'm going to try to do both projects at the same time.
I'll follow your project with interest.  ;)

Thanks a lot guys!

@anevilgiraffe: Hm, maybe it's the light or something. I start with a basecoat of Cadian Fleshtone then different amounts of watered down Pink Horror for the lips, cheeks and noses (depending on how sunburned, weathered or "blushed-ish" I want them). Followed by a light coat of Baneblade Brown for the five o clock shadow. So not a purple paint in sight.

Just like in real life, I like some to look more blushed and/or sunburned (or cold, drunk-blushed etc.) etc. than others, so I vary the recipe for each mini.

Here are some "portraits", with less light from my desk lamp:

Currently on the work bench:
6x Italian Voltigeurs
12x Fusiliers (mix of stock and converted plastic Perry ones)
3 x Officers (Two French ones - slightly converted, one Italian -still to be assembled, waiting for a Spanish command sprue for the Italian officers head)

people are very rarely pink, and certainly not having a tan chin as well. those just seem odd colour choices.

I'm regularly unshaven and at no point does the lower half of my face go that colour.
