Baccus 6mm / Turner 6mm compatibility?
« on: August 19, 2025, 08:43:50 PM »
Hi, for years now I've had quite a seizable collection of 6mm French by Baccus. Lovely figures. Only problem is that I got no opponents for them. Now I ran across somebody in Germany who sells Turner figures, and I wanted to know if any of you had experience with Turner and Baccus next to each other or on opposing sides of the table. For the opponents of my French I was thinking about Austrians or Russians, so if somebody could specific experiences with either of Turner's ranges of those I'd be obliged. Cheers!

I must ask, what period French? As most of the Baccus French figures have appropriate opponents, it is unclear which opponents you are looking for.

Well, originally we planned to play 100 days, French vs. Prussians, but the Prussians never really came to be so far. At 6mm, I'm willing to use my post-1812 French (loads of them in greatcoats too) for 1812 vs. Russians or even 1809 vs. Austrians. I was just wondering if Turner minis would look majorly off compared to Baccus.

I would suggest that you ask the question on Facebook in the Turner miniatures discussion group page; https://www.facebook.com/groups/turnerminiaturesfans
I would argue that a lot of the people there had 6mm metal figures in their collections before.
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

I explored this a few months ago with a small order. The figures are excellent and if I was starting from scratch I’d be very happy.  However the designer I think has said that they are intended to be compatible with Adler who are bigger than Baccus.  I found it a bit jarring with a Baccus general leading a Turner brigade. So it doesn’t work for me but I appreciate people have different tolerance for variations.  I do like the way you can order by battalion rather than big packs as that puts me off doing units like Highlanders where I might only want one .  It wouldn’t hurt to do a small order to check.

As an aside, I’m normally fine with using figures from different sources and generally you can do that without much trouble in 28mm, but in 6mm it’s unfortunate that the main sources, for Napoleonics anyway, Heroics Baccus and Adler are all different.  Yes I know Heroics are strictly speaking 1/300 not 6mm.  I have Napoleonics from Baccus while my much older ACW armies are Heroics.      Sorry I forgot Irregular, they are Heroics size
