Operation Vampyre
« on: 11 June 2007, 10:48:04 AM »
This weekend I saw the spanish translation of the first two WWW novels by David Bishop and I bought them. An easy read to forget the RealWorld (tm) problems.

As many of you will know, the novels are based on the activities of a Romanian Vampyre Unit in the Ostfront in 1941-1942.

One the things I liked more in gaming-terms was the symbol of the unit: the Wehrmatch eagle grabbing a svastika is here replaced by a bat grabbing a svastika...   Maybe I'll use that someday, when the lead mountain lowers a bit.

Read the books also - was quite impressed on the  whole. I must admit I found the ending a bit poorer than the other books. Am in the process of using ideas I read in the books to tun a campaign for savage worlds set in Yugoslavia. Even bought a !:48 scale Junkers52 to fly them all in to start the mission (Yes I know its a bit like Where Eagles Dare) but I dont care.

JUst bought some Darkson designs AE|wwII Lovely figures but a bit smaller than the other stuff I have. I especially like the mad doctor with his glasses on the end of his nose....

cheers
Stephen
