VBCW Battle of Mostyn
« on: 19 December 2011, 08:26:33 PM »
This is my first post here and here is a scenario that my group is playing for Christmas.
Opposing forces.

Welsh National Forces

Holywell Mounted Home Guard
Captain Issac Lewis with pistol
1x Sergeant with rifle and lance
8x Troopers with rifles and lances

Flintsire Constabulary
Chief Constable Edward Ainsworth with pistol
6x Constables with rifles

Red Army

Liverpool-Dublin Barge Militia (LDBM)
Major Robert Andrews with pistol
Lieutenant
10x Militia with rifles
Lieutenant
10x Militia with rifles
1x Armored Tractor

The Red Army Command Liverpool (RACL) has selected Mostyn as stepping off point and have chosen the LDBM and their commander as the best forces to recon the area. The LDBM must cut off all communication out of Mostyn before the inhabitants can call for help. Little does RACL know that a group of the Welsh Home Guard are on their way to Mostyn as part of the Welsh National Movements recruiting drive and presence patrol. The Holywell Mounted Home Guard (HMHG) has been tasked with carrying out this drive in the area and also looking for brigands and ne'er do wells. The Flintshire Constabulary has been asked by the village council to keep the peace in these uncertain times they will fight beside the HMHG but if Chief Constable Edward Ainsworth is killed they will scatter and and be of no aid to the HMHG.

Special Rules
Holywell Mounted Home Guard is a mounted infantry unit and thus can dismount.

The LDBM's armored tractor is slow and can be captured by the opposing force.

The Flintshire Constabulary will disband if Chief Constable Edward Ainsworth or 50% of their force is removed.

Interesting. Will Lord Mostyn be making an appearance? Where do you game?
He that trades Liberty for Security will soon find that he has neither.

I game in Chattanooga TN but I went with Mostyn, Holywell and Wales in general because my great grandfather was from that area. I have been to Connah's Way and me and my wife plan on moving to Holywell when I retire.

Is there a song mentioning Chattanooga? Sounds familiar. Holywell is a nice area, and you'll be close to my gaming club.  ;)

Anyone have an idea on how Renegade's WWI Early War British will look with Artizan and BEF Miniatures?

Sorry for being tardy but welcome to LAF!   :)

I can't say with any great certainty, but I'm led to believe from other posts that Renegade are somewhat larger than Artizan and BEF. How much larger I couldn't say. Great War Miniatures are an alternative though and I'm sure somebody here might have a comparison pic available somewhere.

I use "And was Jerusalem buried here?" for now but our group also use Trench Wars for our larger games and we are waiting for Brigadier 38 rules to get here to give them a try.

Nice to see VBCW is drawing attention on the other side of the pond.
