Being able to share our unrealized projects brings me some sort of peace.   lol

I seem to be able to paint a fair amount of figures but its not always what I planned to paint. ::)
I paint everynight between 7 and 9 pm unless I'm out or theres rugby to watch. Fridays and Saturday nights are often unproductive. A new girlfriend has started to eat into my painting time lately though. :-[

When I get new figures I leave them on my computer desk for about a week so I can look at them when surfing which I do after 9pm. They are then put away in my gaming room so I dont get distracted by them. I do my research after I've finished painting for the night.
I try and paint a project at a time so I can have a usable Army ASAP. A habit I got into when playing FOW.
At the moment I've had to put my Vietnam project on hold  :'( so I can do some figures for a Demo game coming up soon.
It seems to work for me.

I tend to shift from periods of sculpting to periods of painting...and I don't get a choice.  My muse just stops and I have to swap or nothing will get done.

My biggest problem is painting/building vehicles.  I often have them in planning or semi-built but completely run out of enthusiasm for them...I have lost count of the vehicle projects that I have started and then shelved :(.

Painting is something that I can either do...or not.  It all depends on my mood and how much I have slept recently...if all is good, then I can sit and paint for hours but if not, I can't go near a brush.

I can safely say that barren patches are the miniature painter's norm...they just vary in length and level...

You are not alone  :D !

I'm exactly the same. I get more out of sculpting though, I find. But that's because I feel like I am doing something for lots of people, not just one.  :)

Plus it means new shiny things for my favourite range, which is always more important than painting old things!!!  lol

I've not painted anything in a very very long time, not even built anything in months either.
 :(

I'm kinda at a bit of a low point, after giving up on the Evil Empire and there being no clubs in town I kinda need to get my own models, scenery and small board sorted out to play some narative skirmish games. It does seem like a very big task even though I'd only need a 2' square board.

The problem of liking far to many genres and time periods is one I suffer from too though.

Well from my experience:

i) Pack everything else away that will sidetrack you.

ii) Have a point in time that 'x' needs to be done by, for me and the Zed table, it's always been trips across county where I need to take the table to play.

iii) Don't overstretch.

iv) KISS (Keep It simple, stupid!) Linked to the above.

v) Do post your WIP up somewhere, it does give you that little bit of a push at low times.

vi) Plan, plan plan: It will end up a glorified mess if you don't do the planning time.

v) Enjoy it!

Hope this helps, oh also this was all before I had twins so most of this now goes out of the window in the 18mins a week I have to my self when not sleeping/working/changing/feeding etc...  :D

Cheers to all of you.  Really some great tips.

I've some time off from work this week, so I think I'll start organizing, and formulating a decent plan.
