de Saxe - Reveries
« on: 05 May 2010, 11:33:23 AM »
I've had an obsession (haven't we all  ;)) for many years about the Reveries written by Maurice de Saxe in 1732. A year or two back I decided to have a go at making the figures to represent the Legion troops that are described in the book. Needless to say I failed misrebly! However, I did not give up and have had the first batch of figures sculpted for me. Done by Richard Ansell, they are 1/56 scale and fit with Minden Miniatures SYW and Alban Miniatures Napoleonics for size etc.
Here is the musketeer:

To see the rest of the pictures and to have a chuckle at my poor attempts, please have a look at my Blog

Excellent work...

What a weird hat, no?

I always thought it to be more like a polish czapka!!!

It is indeed a wierd hat, but matches the plates shown in the Reveries. I had imagined them to be more of a classical Roman style helmet  ;)
The greens are now at the casters and I am just waiting to see the master figures. Once the production moulds are done for this batch, it's on to the design phase for the next batch which should include the 'amusette' breach loading, quick firing, man portable 18th C. artillery piece  :D
