Good looking bamboo lances?
« on: 17 June 2010, 08:42:35 AM »
Where can I find such items, preferably in brass or steel? I am consistently disappointed with what's been included in packs. Cast white metal lances are to clunky and bends.

If you want to make your own you can get some styrene rod the right diameter and then very gently score round it with a scalpel (placing the rod on the table and rolling the scalpel over it), if the scalpel is bluntish you will get more of a ridge and therefore more definition.

Hope that makes sense  ???

cheers

Styrene and white metal are too weak and wont survive the gaming table for long.

You could get away with doing it with brass but do it with a stanley knife instead as the blade is wider so you will get more of an indentation than just with a scalpel.

Could work. I'll give it a try.

I just use wire. Paint the pole dark brown and then paint in the bands in the bamboo colour leaving the dark brown rings. At 28mm the ridges between sections will be next to nothing really.
