tried out Where Heroes Dare! last night
« on: 24 June 2010, 03:00:59 PM »
Headed out to Eagle & Empire in Virginia yesterday to check out Where Heroes Dare! I've always been a fan of pulp, and was intrigued when I heard about the release (had never played any Iron Ivan game before.) And, fun was had. The game encourages goofy roleplaying, and while the rules aren't overly complex, there's enough variety written in there to let you go from Russian loyalist troops to Eastern monks with kung fu powers to the mad scientist and his attractive daughter. I might even be able to bring in some of my boardgaming friends (who aren't as much into the minis side of things.) I also learned that mad scientists' devices are highly unstable and very amusing. And yaks can be fierce in melee.

Now, to sit back with the pulp collection and play around with stats, and figure out what NPCs figs I'd have to bring with me...

"Seriously, there is an outrageous amount of running involved."

Oh, and, we played 500 point teams, but I am eager to see how it scales up to a high point total, and even multiplayer...

interesting,
how many people and teams you played?
the rulebook includes rules for campaings and experience progression?

Glad you liked the game.  More points can be more fun, adding in Giant Robots, planes, and tanks.  I'm always a fan of Giant Robots :)

It was just a demo game, so, me and the GM both ran 500 point teams. I took the win eventually, but it was close.

Will a pdf set of the rules be available for those who prefer purchasing in that format?
