Good colour plates are a major reason to buy books. I've lost count of how many books I've bought on subjects I'll never game in (Vietnam, Seven Years War etc), just for the pretty pictures

I'm not terribly bothered about the text, as I have lots of very good Sudan stuff, but you never know there may be some new gems in there. If a new book is well written, even the most comprehensively covered subject can have new life breathed into it.
However, with 30 plus Michael Perry paintings to lust after, I'm certainly very optimistic about it
