Using dettol to strip metal figures.

Very annoyed I thickly coated models. Using dettol to strip the paint. From your experience how was that? Moral of the story:never paint when you're tired.  :-[

using Dettol/Lidel's own brand for 34p is fine, leave the figure overnight in Dettol. Use a pair of rubber gloves and a tooth brush to get the majority of the paint off. Putting the figure in water will make the loose paint gloop up, so only rinse when most of the paint is off. Repeat the procedure for better results.

I have done this - it will unstick some adhesives as well - had to search among the debris for part of a standard so if you have loose weapons etc be sure to retrieve them.

Used an old toothbrush to scrub them (underwater, else it just splatters!) and cocktail sticks for delving into nooks and crannies.  No idea if this is the best method or if there are better.

I didn't like the residual odour* and so put the minis in an airtight bag with a generous portion of flour - a month later and with the flour washed off they didn't smell.

*I was planning to sell the minis as stripped metal

Come on that can't be true, but if it is you could be the arch enemy of a new supervillan we're working on:

Sure did. Obviously not in a pint glass with a packet of crisps but enough of a mouthwash to damage my esophagus (still is 20 years on) and stomach. I hasten to add it was an accident rather than the intentional folly of a drunken twenty something.

Anyway, I couldn't be anyone's arch enemy, I'm too lethargic and nice.  ;)

I'll go with lethargic but......
