28mm SWAT vehicle
« on: 05 November 2010, 07:06:44 PM »
Knock Knock!

Who is there?

CRASH!

I converted a Solido diecast VAB to use as a SWAT armored car.   I used the LAPD V100 for inspiration, adding a battering ram.  I also added a games workshop hatch and machingun.  I know...  SWAT guys don't really put heavy weapons on their vehicles, but they also really don't have to deal with zombies and my 28mm guys just may have to.

I'm trying to find some suitable decals to put on it.

Thanks for looking

Jake

Funny, I hadn't tought about that "Dragnet" movie with Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks in ages, but seeing this made me recall it for some reason...

Company B has just recently added S.W.A.T. and various other police decals to their range.

Check them out here: http://homepage.mac.com/brentdietrich/companyB_decals.htm

Cool!  Doesn't look like the SWAT decals are available yet though.  Thanks for the heads up!

Yeap that scene is the only scene I can remember from Dragnet!
Nice looking model (and love the battering ram!), the HMG looks a little out of scale on though, maybe try something a little smaller if you have something?

I agree about the GW machinegun being too big.  I looked at getting a 1:48 scale .50 but the only ones I could find were some expensive Verlinden ones.   I had the GW one on hand....  Any one have a 1:48 machinegun or a 28mm machinegun they don't need?

Very nice indeed... not sure about the gun, but that's amply compensated by the battering ram esp. with the smiley face.

Bruce from Company B just got the 'add to cart' button for the SWAT decals, so they AND a couple .50s are on the way.  I'll ditch the GW mega-gun for a .50 and add the decals as soon as they arrive.

Once I get that squared away I'll take more pictures.
