Strange Tau figure found in box
« on: 10 October 2010, 02:57:23 PM »
While starting the big clearout (one small box in 5 hours - not too bad) I came across:

Now I know it is a Tau and it says (c)GW 2001 and Fire Warrior on the tab but I cannot remember it at all - I cannot remember even buying it (too much lead, too little sense)

I checked Google images and found one on Flickr but could not find it on CCM or SOL so I think it is rare.

Can anyone help me to:

1) Say if it is real or a fake cast
2) Value it for eBay

Thanks in advance
Andrew

That was a limited edition model - I think it may well have been when the video game came out.

I don't know how much it would be worth on eBay.  I'd take a guess at anywhere between £5 and £30.

Yep. It was sold with the Firewarrior PC game. I think Kais is his name.

It was a release for games day if I remember correctly. I don't think they'd release a pathfinder as a promo for a video game called firewarrior... but who knows... GW has done stranger things I suppose.

I think this was a Games Day mini...the Tau that came with the video game was a sniper with rail-rifle, if I remember correctly...

Nope, it's Kais and it was released with the Fire Warrior video game (the inscribed tab makes for a good hint). The miniature came with the first 8000 copies of the game. Maybe thereafter they did a re-release or something like a clear-out.

He's a Pathfinder Team Leader.

It wasn't a Games Day mini as such (the Kroot Shaper was that year's world wide special if I recall) but it was limited edition. Around that time the Studio would produce special miniatures that the various parts of the company (GWUS, UK etc) could use as they wished. Some gave them away at open days and tourneys, others sold them for a limited time, some only gave them away as prizes. Hence, some people will say they're Games Day miniatures, others will say they've never seen them. As he came out around the time of the Fire Warrior game some were probably sold on the back of that too.

Good luck with selling it!
