Midwich Cuckoos: Creepy Children, British Style
« on: 30 October 2010, 05:49:23 PM »
From the novel by John Wydham, made into the film Village of the Damned.

I'm wondering if there's some creepy little kiddies in historical dress. It'd make for a very interesting SoTR scenario, or at least a fun demo game down at the club.

Westwind do some in their Gothic Horror range, I've never seen them painted so I'm not too sure how well they'd work for (W)WWII... then there's the Russian Imperial children in Westwind's Romanov Holiday range, and there's a WWII child in a gasmask from the Dr Who Micro-universe minis...

All are quite creepy in my opinion. Not necessarily the right era though for the Westwind ones.

Westwind also do a pack of French Civilians in their WW2 range.

IIRC, it's one of the "new wave", and thus more in line with the larger 28s of the present day than the older Berlin or Bust figures, which are sometimes noticeably smaller.

I seem to recall it being recommended for a "Children of the Corn/VotD" type of game because it contains a quite miffed-looking boy.

Doesn't any figure of a child become a Midwich Cuckoo with an appropriate platinum blonde hair-do and a dire expression?

There should be several appropriate choices in the Hasslefree range.

This kind of thing always makes me think of "The Bloodening" on The Simpsons...:
