Bog Gobs! 4A Goblins...
« on: 20 March 2011, 05:00:04 PM »
As a first time LPL'er I hope this isn't considered bad form so soon after a round has finished - I hope to get a new entry in for the rest of the rounds in the LPL so won't be using this team again...

... plus I've been dying to share these pics!  :D

So here's the Soggy Bottom Boyz - 4A Gobbos I've rechristened as swamp goblins!

Lurverly minis to paint - can't wait to get on with the other five I have in the looong paint queue! Although I'm not sure I'll go to the extent of adding puddles to the bases with meltable water effect stuff - a tad fiddly and I had some nasty moments while I was trying to encourage the stuff into the recesses I'd made with a match after it had mispoured...  :o

I have plans for these guys games-wise - just need to make a nice big swamp for them first...  ;D

Lovely job sir!

What make are they?

Is that Army Painter you used on them?

As a Fanatic Goblin Guy, I was hoping you'd get up more photos of the Swamp Lads. I LOVE the facial expressions...especially the Archers one eyed squint. All VERY WELL DONE!
Having worked with the meltable water effect, all I can say is your a braver man than moi.

More foolish more like Deafnala!

Glad you like them Manic - loads of fun to paint. More would certainly be very nice - looking forward to the mounted ones you mentioned a while back!

I came up with the Soggy Bottom Boyz in homage to that great film Brother Where Art Thou but I have to give Phreedh the credit for Bog Gobs!

I take it there are no surfers round here as no-one has recognised the shield design...  ;)

Luddite - not army painter but several layers of inks on top of highlights.

Maybe I should have bought a can and saved myself some time!  ;) lol

BT broadband decided to go on the blink while I was drafting this out first time round - forgot to say that these are available from our very own Manic_miner's excellent 4A miniatures!

I have been using the GW water effects. They work pretty well.

The film Oh brother where art thou is a good movie. It has some really funny parts in it too.

Where do you get your back drops from?I could do with a few myself.

Google images - I just search for water colours of whatever landscape I need - takes a bit of searching sometimes!

I did, never got around to mentioning it though. Hot Tuna. =) I'm no surfer, was just a popular brand in Sweden in the 90s.

I have to give Phreedh the credit for Bog Gobs!
One of my few inspired moments... ;)

I think they're great, especially like the lizardy eyes and the shields. Didn't notice the Hot Tuna shield in the LPL submission.

Nope - managed to pick the pic in which it was turned the other way - d'oh!  ::)

That and the puddles didn't show up very well...  ;D

Mind you it wouldn't have been a very good camera angle if I did - I figured full on shots of the gobbos rather than the tops of their heads would be better!  :D

These guys are painted really well and all have great expressions; they are some mean little buggers. Show us more pics of your elves too.
