A couple weeks old now, but still:



Complete tonal 180 from the first trailer. Looks good to me, but that's editing for you. Won't really know which trailer represents the actual film better 'till the film itself comes out, I suppose. Ryan Reynolds actually seems OK for the role when the comedy is kept understated IMO.

The much-griped about suit design also looks pretty good in action, I think, if a bit too GC-slick at times. Mostly it's the crevice-conforming skinnyness of it that weirds me out a little: it looks like he's naked and the suit's just painted on (it's actually CG). But I think that's just because I'm used to rubber and cloth live action superhero costumes, and how even the thinnest ones will bulk or compress the human form in places. Comic book superhero costumes are usually drawn like they're just body paint regardless of what they're actually supposed to be made of, and this one has the added justification of being what I assume is some kind of conformal energy field rather than a physical material anyway, so it's all good even if it looks odd... if that makes sense.

'Course I'm not a GL reader, so take that as you will. Looks good from what I know of the comic, but what I know of the comic is very little, so...

I gotta agree, that trailer took the look of the movie from light hearted goofy heroics to serious step-up-and-save-the-universe. I choked up a bit when he said the oath (can't believe it wasn't used in Final Frontier).
I agree about the suit, it still looks odd, I think I would have preferred some sort of lightly armoured leather uniform (like x-men) to show the police/militaristic side of the GLs or maybe just a body suit closer to the Flash tv mmovies or spiderman movies; form fitting but not showing individual bands of muscle like an anatomy class. Maybe it'll look better on the screen.
I'm very enthused for this now, glad to see there is more to this movie than DC trying to get Ryan renolds to copt RDj's Tony STark (which is how I felt about the first trailer).

Having been disapointed by most DC movie adaptations (Superman Returns, Dark Knight) this looks like its has promise - they seem to have done away with turning it into a comedy mockery!

Costume looked fine to me!

Click the resolution button in the lower corner of the vid, and watch it full screen. The suit actually looks pretty good: the banding on the muscles is pretty clearly more of a decorative motif than an actual reflection of the wearer's muscle fibers, and the glow radiates from the lantern symbol & appears linked to usage of the ring, rather than the more constant, all over glow implied by the early promo pics.

IMO it ties together perfectly with the Clarke's Law-ish tech level of the Lantern Corps, and emphasizes the contrast with Earth's tech level. I look at this and think that while leather and/or cloth works for home grown heroes, it's probably as primitive as knapped flint to the Corps.
