Outpost Wargame Services Dragoon Officer's wife
« on: 02 August 2011, 08:42:22 AM »
A while back I asked for mounted civilian models usable in a victorian period (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=30304.0). I got several good suggestions, and I've ordered both General Picton and a couple of hunting parties from Cowboy Wars. During my search I also found this nice model from Outpost Wargame Services, in the remodelled Highwaymen range:

It is without doubt the nicest sidesaddled 28mm model I've seen (not that there are too many to choose from in the first place). The range she's from is earlier than the Victorian period, but I have no problems with using her in an Old West or London by Gaslight setting. The model was also a treat to paint up, and it is the best result I've ever achieved. The horse she comes with is not that great a sculpt, however, and I have not finished painting it yet either.

C&C welcome.

Nice PJ - only criticism is with the horses reins (however it should be spelt, on hols with too many beers) - think that needs cutting away and plasticard or similar using.

Nice painting!

The lovely is a very nice sculpt, but those horses - Yuck!

I replaced ours with a Front Rank horse - much nicer http://adventuresinlead.blogspot.com/search/label/outpost%20wargame

Thanks for the feedback!

@Rob_bresnen - the dress is more orange than is evident in the picture. That might, however, still be immodest. I don't really have a clue...

@Dozing Dragon - you're right, the reins are the most odd-looking part of the horse and should be replaced. I still haven't decided yet if I'll do that, or just replace the horse alltogether.

@Furt - great link, thanks, and a good choice for horse.
