LOTOW Alamo suplement

Is it just me or dos'nt the Alamo mass combat system work ? . I'm a BIG fan of the original LOTOW and have had lots of great games with various posses . I had a game using the Alamo mass combat rules at a friends house (using his Tex/Mex figs) and it didnt seem to 'work' for me , think it was a lack of moral rules ie no testing to charge / receive charge etc . Sad cos I was looking forward to game, dont want to condem rules after one game but it felt more like Warhammer Fantasy than Texas .
