AAR - Pegasus Bridge - Pic heavy
« on: 30 January 2012, 11:30:30 PM »
Thought I'd post some pictures of a game I played with fellow LAFer Phil (Petracelli) last weekend.  All the figures, buildings and terrain boards are Phil's. Figures and vehicles are 20mm Britannia Miniatures.

Hans stands guard at the bridge

The Germans defending the bridge

The first glider lands on target . . .

. . . and the Ox and Bucks start heading for the bridge over the canal.

Two more gliders land according to plan and soon the entire British force is heading towards Pegasus Bridge.

After a brief firefight the British arrive at the southern end of the bridge - Hans has fled to the safety of the bunker.

The British lose no time in crossing the bridge and securing the North end

Ham and Jam, Major Howard takes a salute from a wounded private

The Brits press on the attack to Cafe Gondree in an attempt to secure milk and sugar for a brew.

Arial shot of the cafe assault

Arial shot of the bridge before the German counter attack

Sgt Thornton tries to stop the advancing German armour with his PIAT, but fails

For you Tommy, the war is over! - German armour on the bridge at the end of the game.

All in all a good fun game using Rapid Fire rules.  Whilst we only managed to play the scenario once, but the British do seem to face a big challenge to secure both ends of the bridge by the end of turn 12.

Good looking game.
Am glad that in the real battle Sgt. Thornton knocked out the tank.
I have always wished that I could find the bridge in 28mm.
Guess I will have to build one.

Thanks Mark but am sure your little tank should have a damage marker on it!

Cheers

Great looking game, seemed a lot of fun.

I have always wished that I could find the bridge in 28mm.

Every time I see a Pegasus Bridge game I wish that as well.

There seems to be a raise in WWII 20mm stuff recently on the forum. Its inspiring me to get my old stuff and play some games. Just need to find an opponent as my usual opponent is skiving off to Paris this weekend :D
May need to persuade my son he wants to try WWII 20mm :D

Beautiful terrain and it looks like the game was a lot of fun. I just read Pegasus Bridge by Stephen Ambrose and now I want to game it but I need to make some terrain for it and im going to use these pictures for inspiration.

Looks great. Shows how a really nice table can bring a game to life.
