Are the DE shield engraved or the image is freehand painting?
The shield is engraved - I'm not really adept at freehand. The shield is a Marauder Miniatures shield (also 1991 or earlier...), and there were several designs. You can view some of them here:
http://www.solegends.com/marauder/mm70de.htmGreat looking Dark Elves gnomehome, I really like the colours you picked
The dark reddish brown is Vallejo Hull Red - Shadow Flesh - Red Leather
The purple is a Foundry Triad
Flesh is Vallejo/Coat D'arms
The blue is Hawk Turqoise (Coat D'Arms)
Lovely stuff in both of these - strangely, I had gathered a handful of old Marauder Dark Elves to be used for the same purpose(although in the end, I couldn't commit to the LPL - they'll still become a Mordheim warband, though, like this one!).
Most of these are actually the very first models I bought myself (over 20 years ago). I was donated some plastic Dark Elves (from the 3rd edition plastic box with 10 identical miniatures from5 or 6 races) together with a metal champion (from a Citadel box with one figure per 'evil' race), and that started it all. The first box I bought myself was The Mangils Man Hides (a hard transparant plastic 'blister box) - Mangil himself is featured here (the one with the shield) I also bought a coupke of blisters at the same time (containing the second figure on the right from the inserts in the picture).
Over the years I painted them twice and stripped them twice. They were sitting in a drawer with just a coat of primer (together with lots of contemporary figures awaiting the resurrection of my DE WFB army). Since Mordheim is about the only miniatures game I get to play, I decided to select a warband out of my stockpile and paint them up.
I'm rather happy with the way they turned out. Painted to a decent gaming standard (for me) within a reasonable amount of time.
