Even 9ft horror sounds ends up being huge.
I was thinking about trying to sculpt some, for the fun of it, but I am a bit thorn, I think it is not even playable if a monster is too big. What you guys think would be the tallest that would be still afordable and playable?

Regarding the Dunwich Horror, there's also this charming interpretation from the CoC Dunwich sourcebook:

Based on the description, that's probably not too far from what Lovecraft had in mind - especially with that "face being yards and yards across". It's an old school illustration, and I actually like it a lot. But it's perhaps more fantastical than horrific, and I'd definitely prefer horrific in terms of miniature art. ;)

Actually, there are a few miniatures around that would fit the bill.
For instance:

Thanks for the links. :) The keyword was something specifically sculpted to represent, not a decent proxy. :P The minis in the first two links are nice, but the third one made me go "whoa, I want!" - even though doesn't quite proxy for this: "Nature had never made it in this form, for it was too palpably unfinished. The deficiencies were of the most surprising sort, and the abnormalities of proportion could not be described." But what a wonderfully creepy mini! Couldn't you almost imagine Lovecraft elusively writing "a monstrous thing, like an undescribable fleshy mass of clawing hands and gibbering mouths"?
