1941 Ukraine - Things you learn by reading
« on: May 19, 2012, 04:25:13 PM »
I found an interesting article that I have been reading on the defense of Dnepropetrovsk in September 1941.  It was written from the Russian point of view.  I was specifically looking for information on the 255th Rifle Division since the CSIR fought one of their regiments in that general area.  What I found was some interesting notes about platoon and company defensive deployments and how they changed.  If you are interested, take a look at my blog: http://cstoesen.blogspot.com/2012/05/more-things-learned-by-reading.html

If anyone knows more about when the change in deployment took place (I could not figure it out from the article), I would be very appreciative.  Also was this a general practice in the Southwestern Front or something peculiar to the 255th Division?  The more I think about it, the more questions I am coming up with.
