No, a coping saw is different and not usually used for cutting metal.

Look for an X-Acto brand hobby saw or google for a picture and get something similar.

I found some X Acto ones online, but couldn't get them locally.  At Amazon the xacto saw has very bad reviews.  Intead this one comes recommended:

Am I right in thinking this is more along the lines of what I need?

Yes exactly that. It fits really thin blades, which are about £1 for a load of them. I got mine at wilcos. You in the UK?

No, I am in Canada.  My main stores I look in include Michaels, Walmart or Home Depot.

I have to say that whilst I admire your determination, there has to be an easier way to represent you in your games? find a suited SMG armed mini (EM4 Miniatures for example: http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/SUITS.html plus it'll only cost oyu £1.28 a figure!!!) and do a head swop if you like the trenchcoat head.

Don't spend too much time on the simple stuff, (tunnel vision, we've all had it on projects) or the complex will just bite you in the arse!

It worked!

Sorry for the necro, but I wanted to update my blog with this figure before posting here.  And I did so today.  I want to say thanks to everyone who contributed here, there were some great suggestions on alternate figures.  But I really wanted to have something just right, and Ramshackle_Curtis' motivations and assertions that it was not a huge job lead me to tackling it myself, and I am very satisfied with the results.

So here is me, in miniature form, for my campaigns:

It came out exactly as I wanted.  Check out my blog (linked in sig) for more pics and info.

Thanks again all!  Now that the tunnel vision is lifted (that was good advice too Vyper, I did spend more time than needed on this.  But not so much that it distracted me from the rest of the project), I can get onto the complexities.  Should be seeing this guy dealing with the Zombie Apocalypse soon.
