The Everything-Must-Go-Project
« on: 20 April 2012, 12:16:09 PM »
In the summer our group will start with a Fallout/Firefly-Crossover using ICEs Bladestorm and Silent Death rules. Since i a´m the gamemaster this is my chance to "get rid off" a lot off unused plastic and metall miniatures and those old paints and inks, i would never use for regular painting.

So the premiss of this project is: Don´t buy anything new!
I will use only things, i already own, or which i can get for free, like cardboard.
The second premiss is: Don´t build any terrain, you can´t use in other games!

I started with some Warzone Bauhaus miniatures, that will make nice Brotherhood of Steel paladins and soldiers. The pictures are bad, i will replace them, when i get another camera.

For the Soldiers i will use Bauhauser Blitzer and as support a Vulcan Battlesuit.
For the Heroes i´ve got some Krytech/Krymek(?) miniatures, some umarried Zulus i bought for my Conan project and a bunch of GW Miniatures from the Tyrannid Attack game.
And then we´ll have to see what´s still in the cellar. :D

This will make produce some fine Raiders:

I got it for free at a fair and still have 2 unopened boxes down stairs. It contains 32 plastic miniatures.

Who makes those automated guns? Or are they scratchbuilt?

I´m a little angry and sad. Right now we are playing some pirate thing with unpainted plastic or lead miniatures on a battlemat. Sometimes we even battle potted plants. It has its charm, but i wanted to spend some of my time doing something for the entertainment of the group. To build nice buildings and vehicles and paint some miniatures so that the game will even be fun to look at. But i have been called mad for spending time on painting and crafting so i will abandon this project for more satisfying projects, were i won´t be laughed at.  :(

Look at it this way - you have been called mad by people who pretend that pot plants are pirates.  They are not in a position to throw stones.
Back from the dead, almost.

personally I think that nicely painted figures and scenery enhance the enjoyment of the game. Sure, use boxes or pot plants etc if it means you can get on and get e quick game in, but it should only be until you have some time to slap some paint on and get some scenery made.
scenery does not have to be fantastically detailed. You wil see some lovely stuff on this forum, but don't be put off if you think you can't do as well- I am not that good myself, but I still think it's worth a go. Make something generic enough to be used in lots of battles (hills, rivers, ruins, woods)- you will find a few hours work will last you many years of gaming.

Thanks for cheering me up! Right now i´m spending my time otherwise in finally painting my Freebooters Fate Imperials or working on my Conan project. I have even invited some friends over for a barbecue and an evening of game for which i´m building a ancient black kingdom city including painting all the civilians.
So all is not lost. It was just a thing of rearranging my priorities. ;)
