Samurai Miniatures

Hello All


     The time has come, I am finally ready to buy miniatures for my Samurai skirmish. I have to competing companies, Perry and Wargames Factory. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Perry's minis are beautiful, but are expensive when compared with Wargames. With Wargames I would get 25 Samurai on foot and 12 Calvary for $40 USD. Wargames figures I would have to clip and put together though. Can someone advise me one way or another? What have you experiences been like in the past? Are there any companies that I am not considering that I should? Thanks in advance.

Hi, for a skirmish game I would go for some metals as you really don't need so many miniatures.

 If you are just goint ot skirmish game then I would go for Perry miniatures.I have some and just add to them when I can.Trying to get the full set then bulk out for bigger games.

 Been very tempted. by the Wargames Factory one's.Even more so after seeing them mixed with the Skeletons.

 The old Clan War range is another good option.

I have the Museum Miniatures ones with a few from Perrys.  MM are available in 28 & 15mm if that's a factor.

Don't forget TAG Samurai range...I have a goodly amount and they are beautiful too...stick with metals IMHO

Black hat have a good range of samurai with ronin and bandit types which mix in quite well with the above

Steel fist miniatures have just released 6 samurai generals. They look great. I thought i had finished collecting samurai till i saw these

IN the past (15 years ago?) a game was available, with metal miniatures, named "clan wars".

The boxed set was filled with all metal miniatures

I don't believe there out yet, but is resins your bag, you might want to have a look at the new Kensie range by Zenit Miniatures (I'm betting they'll be pricey though)

Mura Miniatures has an overview of the different manufacturers (and scale options) available. Good tutorials on making village houses also!

My small collection of Sengoku era figs consists of Kingsford, Old Glory, Bushido (Charrette's 25mm 1980s), Reaper, and Eureka.

If you were UK-based I'd say that Perry's would be the best quality and most cost effective metal option, but I've no idea how they fair across the Pond in terms of price and P&P.

Of course WGF are as cheap as any other plastics, albeit of a lower quality than Perrys, Warlord etc. But they do have some fans here.
