a suitable base for ol' Cthulhu
« on: 01 August 2012, 01:07:22 PM »
just received the Khurasan Cthulhu (sorry, "Octopus god" - fantastic customer service, by the way). I'm planning to use the figure in 28mm, and I need a HORRRRRIFIC, but also awesome base for the not-so-little-guy. Any suggestions perhaps? He needs a big base, around 100mm, one that I just need to paint and that's it. (my scratchbuilding skills are nil.) The crazier the better, one that suits the figure :)

Most recently, I've been taking notes of large runic / carved bases and such. Here are a few...

Mike's
Fenris
Foundations of War
Dragon Forge

But if you're looking for (super)natural terrain bases, those are obviously varied and plentiful. Lava? Rocks? Cosmic ooze? They're all out there somewhere. Just give me a rough idea and I may be able to recall a few.

And then there are blanks in all sizes, if you want to make a higher base with separate ruins bits or something like that.

For this big, tall and great miniature, I would use a round/square base with 40mm or 5mm. All of them with an impresive terrain sculpt.

In the link yiu have some models, there are many facturers.

After painting, using transparent glue is a good way of making water.

I used it and it works grate.

Bye.

great suggestions Delmot! The Fenris ones are especially suitable.

thanks for your suggestions as well Alejandro, unfortunately the Micro Art bases are a bit too small for this fella :)
