DA figure for Charles Stokes?
« on: 06 August 2012, 07:29:33 PM »
Now that i've finished my FP figures, bar the basing, my Baluchi are up next as guards/askari for the Explorers.

This has got me thinking about a suitable figure to represent Mr Stokes as i tend to do an Explorer/German variant until i can get more generic Askari

I've only ever seen articles depicting him in in robes/turban.

Any thoughts Gentlemen.

Thanks

James

If you don't want to use a Zanzibari figure to represent him in native garb, his outfit when working for the Germans was a white tunic and trousers and a broad-brimmed hat. He was also heavily bearded. Nothing springs immediately to mind that could be used without converting, but maybe you can think of something.

But if you can find an explorer body that you like the look of, I have a spare head from the Warlord plastic Zulu War British infantry you can have. It is heavily-bearded and wears a broad-brimmed hat, conveniently enough. PM me if you are interested.

That's very kind Plynkes - thank you.

I was thinking about using the Foundry Baker figure but it would be difficult to convert as the neck piece molds into the shoulders

Add a green-stuff beard to the Carl Peters figure from the same Explorer pack?

Actually, it wouldn't be difficult to whip off the despicable Peter's head ...

PM sent chap  :D

Cheers

Stokes is an interesting character- I kind of like him, the poor sod.

Good ideas for conversions... I never got around to thinking up how I would portray him.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.
