Beetlemen?
« on: September 02, 2012, 06:22:38 PM »
I'm looking for a 28mm scale humanoid beetle to represent a Coleopteran from GURPS Dungeon Fantasy. Does anyone know of a company who produces something like this? The only one I'm aware of is from Darkson Designs (now Blackball Games Inc.), the Phact from their AE-Bounty line, but it's a bit futuristic for what I'm looking for.

Any help is appreciated.

Try the Dreamblade line. There's one called a "foul beetle" and there are number of other big anthropomorphic insects.

You probably wouldn't want the goop on it though, so you would have to carve it off and resculpt those bits.

It's probably not of much help, and it's a weird suggestion, but there are these obscure little official lines of pre-painted plastic Digimon miniatures or figures that have a few beetle monsters in their ranks that could work.
Look for Tentomon, Kabuterimon and Megakabuterimon. I had a few of the toys when I was young, I think they were around 28 MM, and they're the most beetle like men I've ever seen.
God awful hard to find amongst all the action figures, though - and you may not like the cartoony proportions.
