6mm
« on: 01 September 2012, 09:32:33 PM »
We could do with a complete section for 6mm World War wargaming on here - unless there is one and I just can't see it. I thought it was a popular scale but it seems I was wrong. I always found 6mm to be a great scale - the ability to fill a table with vehicles and troops that looks realistic for a reasonable cost is great. Maybe I'm biased but there you go. Comments?

I personally prefer 6, 10 and 15mm scales, but only 15mm has gotten serious foothold in the mainstream gaming. Like you said the smaller scales allow you to fill the table with troops, vehicles etc.

I think there should be a section for these smaller scales, absolutely.

None of the boards are subdivided by scale, leven.  The best way to get people talking about 6mm WW2 is just to post about it on the WW2 boards, I'd have thought.  That way, if you have a game report about, say, Russians vs Germans, people who are interested in the Eastern Front will see it even if they normally game in a different scale.
Back from the dead, almost.

I personally never had much interest in 6mm miniatures so if boards were separated like that I probably wouldn't have ever taken notice in 6mm, not having them separated, like they currently are, lets a wide range of people who would not normally be inclined view all different scales see what every scale has to offer. I have enjoyed looking at different peoples armies/painting/sculpting at all sizes. So I think it's fine the way it is. My first minis were 6mm orcs. I must dig them out some time.

I really like 6mm and would like to see more but I don't think it needs a unique sub-forum, not least because it would fragment the forum with a danger of ending up like TMP which I find incredibly difficult to navigate.

Just post 6mm in the relevant section and hopefully it'll increase interest.

You make a good point - and I know exactly what you mean about TMP - I have to bookmark each topic so I can find my way back to it.

I agree 6mm can look great on the board. I will personally never go that way, I have projects in 28mm from here to the foreseeable future. I'd love to oogle what people do with there itty-butty minis though.

Please no sub-forums for different scales, this is one thing I really don't like about TMP :)

If I'm not creating a new thread, I just use the "show unread posts" and browse through, far better then having to check multiple forums :)

Aren't there better places on the web to go for 6mm?!

I mean.. this is the lead adventure forum. That says adventure gaming to me. Like skirmishes and stuff. Maybe I'm wrong but that's the NOTION I get when I read the title of the forum.

But then again they just did 'an age of big battalions'-subforum so I may be out of touch with command.

I've never seen a battalion either and thus can't see if it's different enough from a regular African lion to merit an entire sub forum.

OK guys ! I get the hint, no sub-forum for 6mm. Suits me, just thought I'd ask.

I think you couldn't be much more wrong. Lead-adventure means adventure in lead.. That includes any scale from 2mm to whatever. Also thats kind of hostile stating "isn't there better places.."

I think LAF is the best place on net for all of us gamers. The point in here was only to suggest a subforum but yea it doesn't fit here, I agree. But pointing the person to the door for asking this is kind of lame..

That's me I'm afraid. Always wrong and hostile.  :D

I thought I was simply making the point that there are forums out there dedicated specifically to 6mm, which might suit someone who feels the urge to do 6mm so much that they miss a dedicated sub forum to it. Ahem!

I mean, of course, 6mm stuff does show up here now and again, but I'd think that it would always be a speciality rather than the order of the day. But if someone feels strongly for sharing their 2mm/6mm/whatever scale things here and find it to be the right outlet for their creativity - by all means have a ball!  lol

But I guess what I really mean is that you assume way to much and hostility is just out of the question on this forum in my opinion. I never read stuff here in a hostile tone. In fact I never read stuff anywhere in a hostile tone...   ;)
