@varagian : I sent an email to 2HG to ask some questions about the system. We'll see.

@pauld : Yes, dungeon bash, but I didn't see (correct me if I'm wrong) anything concerning minis ?

2HG answered me, and advised me to test swordplay, waiting for warrior heroes legends game future release :

http://2hourblog.blogspot.fr/2012/06/warrior-heroes-legends-aar.html

So...I'll wait, since apparently all the features I want will be available in this new game. I'll post feedback once the game will be released and I would ordered it.

Slightly off topic, but I'm still on the fence regarding Warhammer Quest. I've built my own copy, with my own home made (and home designed) cards. I collected LOTS of Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures for it. We played it a few times, and while fun we found it lacking in the actual combat department. Too many monsters on too little space meant no maneuvering at all. =/ Also, it was bloody HARD! We never managed to level up once... or even get out of a dungeon alive with an intact party.

You're right when you say most systems lack the actual dungeon crawling mechanics, and I think it's a of little consequence. If you find a solid game engine, with granularity that allows for leveling up and micro-leveling by loot, then you're home free. Just add on the random dungeon generation nicked from Warhammer Quest or similar.

The single most important point of a dungeon crawl is that the heroes main enemy shouldn't be any single individual monster, but the attrition that several encounters in a row will be. Dungeon crawls are resource managment games. "Should I do this potion now or save it for later - I might over-heal and waste points I'm likely to lose soon" or "Should I cast this spell now? If I do, the barbarian might survive but we're without heavy artillery for any final boss encounter...". Most dungeon crawls seem to miss out on that completely. =( It's a delicate balance though, and not easy to make a good game that's just "hard enough".

I didn't see (correct me if I'm wrong) anything concerning minis

Minis are not specifically mentioned but it is a Dungeon Skirmish game so minis are almost a given

All characters and monsters have stats and skills (and characters can increase their stats and skills through experience)

Initiative
Hit Points
Melee Attack values
Ranged Attack values
Defence value
Magic ability values
Movement value
etc

You can duke it out like any other game but as well as straight out swordplay or missile combat you can do slightly more complex things such as

swing from a chandelier to knock over a monster
jump down from ledges on top of an opponent
sneak past a guard
or sneak up behind a guard and silently despatch him
kick down a door
ambush a guard patrol
jump over a chasm
spot a trap

or most anything else you can think of based on a check using the various attributes  ....  but I am sure you know this

Like all Roleplay-Lite Skirmish systems (and there are many) this can make for much more enjoyable experience

DS4 looks good and simplified ( never played it myself though  ;D  but I liked what I read ).  It seems to offer what you ask and appears a step up from the Ravenloft and Ashardalon games

and of course it's free (but I think I mentioned that already)

Songs of blades and heroes dungeon extension (gold and darkness) seems to have most of my needs included too. I may try it too!

I'm using WHAA from THW as Varangian said. Here you can read a full report of dungeon bashing: http://javieratwar.blogspot.com.es/2011/03/escape-from-dark-einars-saga-chapter.html
But I'd wait for the next release which will be more detailed and better edited.

I dig this topic since I just received an email about Goalsystem Delves release. It's using goalsystem mechanics (like Super System), but I didn't find much info about it. For what I understand, some of my needs  :

Quote
It must include :

monsters and heroes complete roster
possibility to create our own heroes (and villains, why not)
include advanced campaign mode (levelling, experience, shops, cities)
fast and (very) simple rules but "realistic" (traps, light, etc...)

are filled, but I'm not sure about solitaire...

Any infos will be appreciated !

thanks
